Learn and Grow Awarded a Grant of $15,000 by The Wyoming Community Foundation

Learn and Grow is a STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) afterschool enrichment program. Each day consists of several physical activities, science experiments, engineering tasks, games, art projects, crafts, homework, and dinner.  Different opportunities are offered daily to make learning fun and interesting. Program engages parents to become a part of their children's learning and growth by communicating daily with parents about their children's accomplishments/successes, and by offering monthly family engagement nights such as a cooking university, game night, camping and reading night. Weekly Activities include: Mondays:  Legos; Tuesdays: Dirty Fun that focuses on science experiments and art; Wednesdays: Legos and Engineering group tasks; Thursdays: Culinary art - Charlie Cart (a modern Chuck Wagon) is utilized to teach the science of cooking with vegetables and herbs that are grown on the Learn and Grow garden; Friday: Art and Science Centers. Some subjects children love to learn about: Outer space and aeronautics; The ocean; Plants, animals, insects and the human body; The weather, buoyancy and  any other water messes that children can get into; Other earth science topics and recycling; Simple chemistry. Learn and Grow provides a safe environment that creates interest in positive afterschool activities.

Close to 250 children participate in Learn and Grow annually.

Kasi Hartsoch, a parent whose children attend Learn and Grow says "My kids get really excited after finishing a project at Learn and Grow. They always want to replicate it at home." Another parent, Tatyana Walker, say “Learn and Grow inspires my daughter to try science and experiments that she would not have been exposed to at home. Ksenia loves building Legos and Engineering projects with her buddies at Learn and Grow”.
